HUD Highlights
Archive It
Letha E. Strothers, Office of Public Affairs
If you’re a frequent visitor to www.hud.gov, there may be files you’ve gotten used to accessing and you hope they’ll always be there when you need them. Well, HUD has done its own version of filing and created archives.hud.gov website, where you will find content that was formerly found on www.hud.gov. You’ll find information on budgets, programs, initiatives, and other documents from previous administrations. There are two ways to access the archives: either by browsing the topics below or with our Search. So, as you do your filing this January, bookmark archives.hud.gov and the older information from HUD that you rely on will be right there when you need it.
Commission's Corner
What will you hear “on the grapevine?”  Calls to action and invitation to reflection.  Commissiner's Agenda
Update on Sustainability Task Force: as of last month, National VP Quirk was still waiting to hear whether there would be one or two representatives on each half—legislative and projects—so  still can’t tell you which one I will be representing you on.
Succession planning is underway; Homer will be reporting on that at our meeting.  It seems timely that we think, collectively and individually, about the future of this committee—purpose and functioning, as well as names of leaders.
Speaking of leadership, National has formally adopted a process for coming to the Elizabeth B. Wells award:  the names of state chapters’ Commissioner of the Year will be forwarded to the region, the region then selecting one for forwarding to national and national making the final choice (2010 was Fred Wescott of Michigan).  NAHRO at all levels is seeking meaningful commissioner participation, and the best way of recognizing same.  We need to do our part by encouraging our chapters in their thoughtful selection of honorees.
Finally—SCHOLARSHIPS!  Not only the Sam McKay, on which Mel will be giving a status report, but also the others described on the website:  every PHA should have an applicant!
Happy New Year—see you soon!

                                                                                           - Win Jacobs, SW NAHRO VP for Commissioners
