Mission Statement

The mission of the Southwest Regional Council of the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials is the provision of adequate housing for the entire people and the attainment of sound communities through the processes of development, preservation, conservation, rehabilitation, and redevelopment by:

Improving the standards and practice of all phases of administration directly related to the above objectives;
Developing and improving the professional standards involved in the administration of programs to achieve the above objectives;
Strengthening the capacity of the Association at all levels to provide for the exchange of knowledge and results of experience, to conduct meetings, training and education al programs for the exchange of information to improve program administration and the enhancement of professional development opportunities;
facilitating effective relationships among all levels of government in the development and execution of housing and community development responsibilities;
Cooperating and collaborating with other agencies, associations and groups, both public and private, having similar or related purposes.

A Note from the SWNAHRO Senior Vice President

I hope by now that you have all received the copy of our Nominating Committee’s slate of Officers for 2009 / 2011. Please note that our Annual SWNAHRO Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri – June 26th – 30th – will be upon us before we know it, and the incoming President & Vice Presidents will be required to do A LOT of WORK in a short period of time to comply with the Regional and National timelines. So….we are beginning our preparations for committee appointments at the regional and national levels now! As nominees, we realize that all seven of our state’s have their annual meetings at different times, but in order to prepare for our Leadership Transitional Meeting, we need to begin making plans! At our meeting in June our standing committees will need to begin discussing their Vice Chair positions and their recommendation for the other national committee member.

Please look over the following information closely and respond as noted below if you have an interest and are able to make the commitment.

The following appointments will be required from the Regional and Chapter Presidents, and we are trying to ensure that anyone interested knows the responsibilities, commitments and are then given proper consideration.

If you are interested in participating in any of these areas, please forward a responding email to your nominated Chapter President (most likely your current Sr. VP) and cc a copy to our SWNAHRO Service Officer: Shelli Scrogum at shelli@brazosnet.com who will gather the information for the incoming President and Vice Presidents. Please understand that these members who are appointed/recommended are representing our Southwest Region and State Chapters. In order to have good representation, we must have committed representatives – that is our number one expectation! As always, thanks for your participation and dedication to SWNAHRO! The Best Region in the Nation!
